Welding Academy

Southern Minnesota is still experiencing a severe shortage of skilled workers, Fairmont Area Schools is committed to provide a quality learning experience for students and adults as they prepare for a skilled job in welding. We will host a 60 hour welding course to teach essential welding skills.

One high school credit will be earned for students in grades 9-12. The class will be capped at 20 welding students. Preference will be given to current high school students first.

Adult enrollment is $350 for the course and a certificate of completion at the end if the student passes the welding tests.

You will develop skills in GMAW joint welding in the flat position, horizontal position, vertical position and some overhead positions. You will also perform groove weld joints and some pipe joints.

Class will meet from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm on the following Saturday's: Jan 8, 15, 22, 29, Feb 5, 12, 19, 26, Mar 5, 12, 19, 26, Apr 2, 9.

ZOOM will be used in lieu of inclement weather. The instructor has developed a curriculum to use via ZOOM and Google for this exact situation.
