“Due to the Blizzard Warning and the predicted dangerous driving conditions until early tomorrow morning, after careful consideration and communication with Fairmont Area Schools, we have decided to delay the start of the VEX Robotics competition. The following timeline will be used tomorrow.
12:30 - Teams Arrive
12:45 - Mandatory Driver’s Meeting
1:00 - Competition Begins
4:00 - Awards Ceremony Completes
We apologize if this change in scheduling or weather impacts your child’s ability to attend the competition and we thank you for your understanding as this winter weather has been unpleasant at times to say the least. Please let team adult leaders know if your child is now unable to attend tomorrow so we can reconfigure teams if need be. If weather conditions worsen tomorrow, we will communicate a cancellation if need be by 10:30 Saturday morning.”
Fairmont to host student robotics competition
PUBLIC INVITED TO CHEER MARTIN COUNTY YOUTH AS THEY TACKLE FUN STEM CHALLENGE
Elementary students from across Martin County, Minn., will be teaming up for an energetic robotics competition at the Fairmont Elementary School in Fairmont the afternoon of Saturday, April 1st -- and spectators of all ages are welcome to witness this fun application of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in our community.
The event will be in the school's Five Lakes Gym -- use the northeast parking lot and enter at the spectator entrance (door #21).
This Martin County KnowHow! VEX IQ Robotics Competition will see dozens of 3rd & 4th graders from the Fairmont, Granada-Huntley-East Chain, Martin County West, Truman, and St. James Lutheran school districts working together to face a friendly collaborative challenge. These students will have spent several weeks building and learning how to operate their VEX IQ robots, and are ready to put their hard work to the test at this exciting STEM event.
Note: Unlike at many of our robotics competitions, concessions will NOT be available at this event.
